SUMMARY:Webinaire d'Economie: Davide Castellani
DESCRIPTION:Agenda > Tous les événements\nSéminaire d’économie de Bordeaux\nMardi 2 juin à 14h sur Zoom :\nDavide Castellani\n(Henley Business School\, University of Reading)\n« Leaving the Multinational. The Frequency and Nature of Employee Mobility from MNEs »(Auteurs: Martin Andersson\, Davide Castellani\, Claudio Fassio\, Viroj Jienwatcharamongkhol)\nAbstract – Mobility of workers from multinational enterprises (MNEs) to other local firms is increasingly recognized as an important externality mechanism. But how frequent are such mobility patterns and what is their nature? Combining insights from international business theory and the strategic human capital literature we argue that MNE workers develop significant and highly valuable human capital which contributes to firm-specific advantages. Though\, these skills are not necessarily firm-specific\, but they can be transferred also to other organizations\, especially when the mobile employees were previously employed in managerial positions in the MNE and when there is a high degree of similarity or complementarity between organizations. Using longitudinal matched employer-employee data for Sweden with detailed information on individuals\, establishments and firms\, we find that workers employed in MNEs are indeed more likely to leave their employer\, compared to similar workers employed in non-MNEs with similar characteristics. This effect in mobility is particularly strong for high-wage workers and managers. Furthermore\, we find that skilled workers that leave MNEs are more likely to move to other MNEs (similarity effect) and to start-ups (complementarity effect). \n>> en visio sur ZOOM : Si vous n’avez pas reçu le lien et les identifiants de la réunion (dans la newsletter)\, écrivez à communication.gretha@u-bordeaux.fr
