DESCRIPTION:Agenda > Tous les événements\nSéminaire doctorant\n \nJérémy Do Nascimento Miguel\n(BSE)\n  \nThe Effects of Cassava Drying Technology on Commercialization and Consumption Smoothing\n  \n\nAbstract: \n The lack of post harvest processing and storage technology limits Ugandan cassava farmers from accessing higher prices and engaging in intertemporal arbitrage. In this context\, farmers also forgo an additional cropping season to store mature cassava in the field. We propose an RCT introducing solar-power cassava drying machines to cassava farmer groups contracted with a large agro- processor. We aim to study the effects of the technology on the magnitudes and time profiles of harvesting\, revenues\, and consumption. If successful\, we envision this technology pushing out farmers’ frontier by increasing income levels and their ability to smooth it over time.\n\n \n \n \n  \n  \n \n \n  \n
