DESCRIPTION:Séminaire d’économie de Bordeaux\n  \nJosé de Sousa\n LEMMA\, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas \n  \nDeliver Us from Crime? Online Platforms\, Gig Jobs\, and Offending\navec Hugo Allouard\, Grazia Cecere\, Olivier Marie\, and Ines Picard \n  \nAbstract: We study how the rollout of food-delivery platforms across French cities affects local labour markets and crime. Platform entry  increases the number of registered riders and offers new employment   opportunities for low-skilled workers\, especially youth and migrants. Exploiting a staggered difference-in-differences design\, we also  observe significant crime declines in cities where these platforms  operate\, with the largest drops in violent offences\, petty theft\,  property damage\, and drug crimes.
