DESCRIPTION:Séminaire – BxSE / programme 3\n  \nLeah Costlow\nMichigan State University \n  \nUsing optimization methods for food and nutrition policy modeling\n  \nSince 2020\, the United Nations and the World Bank have published the Cost and Affordability of a Healthy Diet (CoAHD) as new metrics for monitoring food security worldwide. Global estimates of CoAHD combine data on retail food prices with dietary benchmarks and national poverty lines to provide insights into how much it would cost to buy foods meeting dietary guidelines in a given place\, and whether the average person could afford that cost. However\, diet optimization models can be used to explore a much wider variety of questions that are relevant for food and nutrition policy more broadly.
