DESCRIPTION:Séminaire doctorantsBordeaux School of Economics\n  \nElisa Rodepeter \n(ZWE) \n\n  \nLabor Blues: How Global Talent Is Distributed Among Young Firms\n  \nSkilled labor shortages are a pressing economic challenge for many advanced economies\, and attracting high-skilled migrants has become a key policy response. This paper examines whether easing access to high-skilled migrant labor differentially affects firms depending on their founders’ migration background. Exploiting the introduction of the EU Blue Card in 2012 as a quasi-experimental policy shock\, we analyze its impact on workforce composition and firm performance among young firms with and without non-EU migrant founders. We investigate how the EU Blue Card in 2012 affected the workforce of young firms with and without a migration background. Our results show that young firms with non-EU founders benefited disproportionally from the increased labor supply following the reform. The results point to the presence of labor market frictions\, such as discrimination\, language\, and network barriers. We do not find evidence of migrant skilled workers crowding out native skilled workers. \n  \nAgenda > Tous les événements\n\n \n\n

DESCRIPTION:Évènement BxSE\nTable ronde / débat \n  \nChanger le Climat ou Changer l’Économie ?\nRepenser notre système économique face aux enjeux climatiques\n  \nC’est indéniable : les activités économiques sont en grande partie responsables des changements climatiques !En janvier 2015\, le Conseil départemental de Gironde affirme déjà les effets principaux en Gironde : des canicules\, des impacts sur les personnes à risques\, sur la sécheresse des sols\, sur le risque d’inondation ou encore l’augmentation de la fréquence des incendies. Aujourd’hui\, au fur et à mesure que le climat se réchauffe\, les impacts affectent le fonctionnement des activités économiques et s’accompagnent de dommages de plus en plus couteux. \nAlors\, plusieurs questions émergent : pour éviter de subir une situation imprévisible\, n’est-il pas temps d’agir à la racine\, de minimiser voire de maîtriser nos impacts sur le climat en transformant de manière radicale nos économies ? \nChanger le climat ou changer l’économie ? C’est interroger nos manières de produire et de consommer. DESCRIPTION:Séminaire doctorantsBordeaux School of Economics\n  \nBijan Valilou\n(BxSE) \n\n  \nEcologically unequal exchange\, money and food: the price of hunger\n  \nThis paper analyzes the differentiated integration of economies into the global food regime. Food regime theory describes the role of international trade and the interactions between agriculture and industry in food production and distribution. This chapter uses multi-regional input-output analysis and network analysis to identify the position of each economy within the network of land and value added embedded into international trade. Network analysis allows us to characterize each country’s central or peripheral position within the network\, as well as the trading communities within the network. Using indicators of centrality\, food security\, land grabbing\, and other social and ecological indicators\, we use cluster analysis to identify the differentiated integration of different economies into the global food regime. \n\n \n\n \n \n  \nAgenda > Tous les événements\n\n \n\n
