DESCRIPTION:Agenda > Tous les événements\nSéminaire d’économie de Bordeaux\n \n\nHenri Joël Sourgou \n(CERDI\, Université Clermont-Auvergne)\n  \n\n \n\nNational food security to a New Sustainable Food System (FS) in Burkina Faso\n \nRésumé : \nWhile the 2002 food crisis in Southern Africa is often used to highlight issues of chronic food insecurity\,  the concept of food security (FS) emerged after a long process of discussions and debates. These discussions within international institutions have focused on the definition of food security as a state of satiation of food in terms of quantity and quality. Unfortunately\, they have neglected to emphasize that this state of satiation is influenced by several factors within and outside the food system\, which fall into three domains: environmental\, social and economic. Therefore\, this article attempts to analyze the interactions that may exist between the food sector and the other sectors\, and to study whether a food security objective is compatible with the improvement of a large number of SDGs and sectors. We are using system dynamics\, which has already proved its effectiveness in simulating the impact of public policies in several countries\, and which has very powerful tools to enable us to make this diagnosis. We tackle this question from the soy exports perspective. Indeed\, conversion from forests to soy-producing areas is a major driver of deforestation. Using disaggregated exports data at the municipality – exporter – destination and year level in Brazil\, we estimate whether changes in foreign demand are related to soy exports and in fine to soy-related deforestation. On the one hand\, we estimate an average micro-level elasticity of soy exports to foreign demand of around 0.2 across specifications. On the other hand\, we document that the average response above hides significant heterogeneities across locations and exporters. Strasbourg) \n  \nPersonality\, creativity and adherence to intellectual property: A lab experiment on copyright\nAbstract: \nThis paper aims to experimentally test the personalist rationale of copyright\, which posits that intellectual property is morally justified because creative activity is the intimate extension of creator’s personality and skills into the external world. To test this theory\, we have designed a theft game where participants are given the opportunity to steal or refrain from stealing creative outputs which vary in their degree of « personality ». We can therefore examine how the intrinsic adherence of people to copyright differs according to the intensity of the “personality” component that is included into a piece of art. Our results present a mixed picture\, indicating a treatment effect only among participants who have a strong preference for intellectual property rights. To our knowledge\, this work is the first to experimentally test the personalist theory of intellectual property. The implications of our findings shed light on the phenomenon known as “IP polarization” and might contribute to ongoing debates on intellectual property policy\, for instance about the protection of creations generated by non-human entities (i.e. artificial intelligence). \n \n  \n– Séminaire organisé par le programme 1 / BSE –\n \n  \n  \n \n \n  \n

In this context\, farmers also forgo an additional cropping season to store mature cassava in the field. We propose an RCT introducing solar-power cassava drying machines to cassava farmer groups contracted with a large agro- processor. We aim to study the effects of the technology on the magnitudes and time profiles of harvesting\, revenues\, and consumption. If successful\, we envision this technology pushing out farmers’ frontier by increasing income levels and their ability to smooth it over time.\n\n \n \n \n  \n  \n \n \n  \n

Or\, nous montrons que\, d’une part\, cette réception est bien antérieure et que\, d’autre part\, celle-ci a été favorisée par des individualités appartenant à différentes disciplines\, à l’image du mathématicien Guilbaud\, de l’ethnologue Claude Lévi-Strauss ou encore du psychanalyste Lacan.
