DESCRIPTION:Agenda > Tous les événements\nSéminaire d’économie de Bordeaux\n  \n\n \n\n  \nAntoine Bernard de Raymond\n(BSE)\n  \nEnquêter sur la précarité alimentaire en France: hypothèses et méthodes au démarrage d’un projet ANR \n  \nDans le cadre du projet A-MAP (Précarité alimentaire: Mesures\, Analyses et Politique\, ANR 2023)\, je développe des recherches sur la précarité alimentaire en France. Cette séance est l’occasion de discuter collectivement des hypothèses\, méthodes et enquête au démarrage du projet\, plutôt que de présenter des résultats ex-post. Le projet se construit autour de 3 hypothèses: 1) la précarité alimentaire est sous-estimée en France et touche de nombreuses catégories sociales\, y compris parmi les classes moyennes.   2) L’alimentation est bien essentiel\, mais sert en même temps de variables d’ajustement dans les budgets des ménages. 3) L’aide alimentaire\, conçue comme une aide d’urgence\, n’est pas un système adapté lorsque la précarité alimentaire devient structurelle. \nLe projet A-MAP se construit autour de deux work packages: WP1\, enquête en population générale sur la précarité alimentaire (avec le Crédoc); WP2\, analyse de dispositifs innovants de lutte contre la précarité alimentaire\, en particulier la Sécurité sociale de l’alimentation. \nCette séance sera l’occasion d’échanger sur les hypothèses\, la méthodologie et les données utilisées pour la réalisation de ce projet. \n  \n  \n– Séminaire organisé par le programme 3 / BSE –\n \n  \n>> pour assister au séminaire via Zoom\, contacter julie.vissaguet@u-bordeaux.fr \n \n \n  \n

DESCRIPTION: \nSéminaire BSE – programme 3\n  \nClara Delavallade\n(Banque Mondiale) \n  \n  \n“Measuring and improving socio-emotional skills among young unemployed men and women in Tanzania”\n  \nIndividuals’ socio-emotional skills (SES) and their perceptions of their own SES both matter for labor market outcomes\, as well as for a host of other economic and welfare outcomes. We deploy novel sets of self-reported and behavioral measures of 14 SES among over 4\,000 male and female youth not in full-time education\, employment or training (NEET)\, in urban and peri-urban Tanzania. We find that men have higher levels of self-reported SES than women. These self-reports are strongly correlated with social desirability and internalized conservative gender norms. By contrast\, gender gaps on behavioral measures are only observed for a limited number of skills and far smaller in magnitude. There is a larger gap between self-reported and behavioral measures among men\, and we provide suggestive evidence that this reflects men’s overestimation of their own skills\, rather than women’s underestimation. We next examine the impact of various SES trainings on labor market outcomes for this NEET population. We find that skill perceptions matter for labor market outcomes and that impacts of SES trainings are concentrated among those initially searching for a job. \n  \n  \n  \n– Séminaire organisé par le programme 3 / BSE –\n  \n  \n– Voir plus d’événements –\n  \n \n \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Séminaire BSE – programme 3\n  \nProfesseur Mahefassoa Randrianalijaona\n (CERED Université d’Antananarivo et UMI Source-IRD)  \n  \n« La pandémie de COVID-19 et le secteur de l’enseignement supérieur en Afrique : une tragédie pour la sensibilisation à la résilience du secteur. Aperçu régional des enseignements tirés de l’Afrique« \n  \nDespite of enormous efforts since independence to alleviate poverty and improve its people’s quality of life\, the African continent continues to face frequent political unrest and have low to moderate economic growth rate\, with the exception of few countries now classified as emerging states. For decades\, the economic growth of the African continent has been widely dominated by private cosumption. Lately\, there is a shift and investment becomes now the main contributing sector and human capital is expected to play an important role. \nIn Africa\, the contribution of the HEIs sector to the economic growth of the continent is relatevily modest and\, most of the time\, not counted or under-estimated. Because of the very limited capacity of countries\, HEIs sector has not given its due importance and is receiving a meaningless part of national budgets. This poor funding allocated to the HEIs sector is considered by many as a proof of how the sector is badly perceived by governments in the continent. The lack of or insufficient funding to the sector impacts negatively its capacity to be competitive and also the capability of its actors to properly play their role\, especially in terms of research and academic activities. The shock caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was too important for the sector. Universities were closed and the lock-down lasts for many months during which no activity was performed. The very limited resources  they are allocated to were not sufficient even to mitigate partly the impact of the pandemic to the sector. In many countries\, distance learning was not possible because most students and teachers were not provided with relevant materials and equipment. Offices were closed and universities administration could not operate from the campus. Internet infrastucture exists but was limited to cover only some places of the campus. In many cases\, it became clear that business continuity plans were not in place. DESCRIPTION: \nSéminaire BSE – programme 3\n  \nJérôme Ballet\n(Passages) \n  \n  \nEconomie de l’image de soi\nLa jeune Pixee Fox a dépensé plus de 500 000 euros en chirurgie plastique pour ressembler à la poupée Barbie. Le jeune brésilien Rodrigo Alves a subi\, lui\, plus de 70 opérations chirurgicales\, qui lui ont coûté plus de 700 000 euros\, pour devenir le sosie de Ken. Si ces cas sont exceptionnels\, la montée en puissance du marché de la chirurgie esthétique témoigne de l’importance accordée à l’image de soi. Le succès des régimes\, dont le marché progresse de 5% par an\, en est un autre aspect. Le corps est un vecteur de notre identité\, de la manière dont nous nous définissons et dont les autres nous définissent. Prolongeant l’économie de l’identité initiée dans les années 2000\, ce texte propose une analyse du marché de l’identité. Sa compréhension suppose de dépasser la conception usuelle de l’homme économique pour y intégrer les émotions auto-évaluatives (fierté\, honte\, etc.).
