DESCRIPTION:Débat Eco\n📍Bibliothèque BxSE\n  \n Geneviève AZAM\nMaitre de conférences en Economie Université de Toulouse \n  \n« Liens à la nature\, liens au monde » Entre l’altérité radicale et la fusion nature-culture\, quelles voies possibles ?\nLes liens à la nature sont constitutifs de notre rapport au monde et aux mondes vécus. La tradition occidentale dominante a construit l’appartenance au monde\, devenu synonyme de civilisation\, comme arrachement et émancipation de la nature\, devenue objet exploitable à l’infini. Capitalisme\, patriarcat\, colonialisme et racisme y ont trouvé de solides points d’appui. Son échec se mesure aujourd’hui aux destructions écologiques et sociales qu’une telle utopie contenait dans ses fondements. Anthropologues\, historiens\, philosophes\, juristes ont déconstruit cette tradition et rendues visibles les attachements. Des économistes aussi\, Geogescu-Roegen\, René Passet notamment\, sans pour autant faire école dans cette communauté. Dans cette conférence sera fait le point des controverses en vue de se repérer dans les débats qui orientent les luttes\, et que nous pouvons approcher par les questions suivantes : De quels attachements à la nature parlons-nous ? DESCRIPTION:Séminaire d’économie de Bordeaux\nTed Loch Temzelides\n(Rice University) \n  \nClimate Economics Progress Report: Technology Adoption\, Uncertainty\, Heterogeneity\, and Growth\nWe discuss three theoretical developments in climate economics modeling: (1) We develop an analytical Integrated Assessment Model that incorporates endogenous scrapping costs resulting from new technology adoption in renewable energy\, as well as externalities associated with carbon emissions and renewable technology spillovers. We use our calibrated model to investigate the effects of the scrapping channel on renewable technology adoption and on the optimal energy transition. (2) The unprecedented nature of climate change necessitates considering model uncertainty in economic models that incorporate a feedback between the world economy and the environment. This\, in turn\, motivates the use of robust control optimization. This approach has several implications for optimal growth\, emissions\, the energy transition\, and for economic policy. (3) We discuss an Integral Transformation Method for studyingsuitable optimal control and differential game models. This allows for a solution to such dynamic problems to be found through solving a family of « temporary » optimization problems parametrized by time. The method is can be used in several applications where the state equation and the objective functional are linear in a state variable. DESCRIPTION:Séminaire doctorantsBordeaux School of Economics\n  \nElisa Rodepeter \n(ZWE) \n\n  \nLabor Blues: How Global Talent Is Distributed Among Young Firms\n  \nSkilled labor shortages are a pressing economic challenge for many advanced economies\, and attracting high-skilled migrants has become a key policy response. This paper examines whether easing access to high-skilled migrant labor differentially affects firms depending on their founders’ migration background. Exploiting the introduction of the EU Blue Card in 2012 as a quasi-experimental policy shock\, we analyze its impact on workforce composition and firm performance among young firms with and without non-EU migrant founders. We investigate how the EU Blue Card in 2012 affected the workforce of young firms with and without a migration background. Our results show that young firms with non-EU founders benefited disproportionally from the increased labor supply following the reform. The results point to the presence of labor market frictions\, such as discrimination\, language\, and network barriers. We do not find evidence of migrant skilled workers crowding out native skilled workers. \n  \nAgenda > Tous les événements\n\n \n\n
