Through different chapters, this thesis aims to examine the gender issue and its impact on various malnutrition issues in developing countries. In the first chapter, I study the transformation of attitudes towards gender through time and of societies, and its impact on the nutritional health of populations. In the second chapter, I apprehend the change in optimal breastfeeding practices with a focus on Asia, induced by the enrichment of people and societies, to highlight the current challenges in this area. Finally, the third chapter proposes to analyze the impact of empowerment (in a so-called “radical” conception) on child malnutrition in Nepal, alongside policies promoting the fight against poverty.

Cette thèse vise à examiner, au travers différents chapitres, la question du genre et son impact sur diverses problématiques de malnutrition dans les pays en développement. Tout d’abord, j’étudie dans un premier chapitre, la transformation des attitudes à l’égard du genre, au fin du temps et des sociétés, et son impact sur la santé nutritionnelle des populations. Par la suite, je m’intéresse à la mutation des pratiques d’allaitement optimales, en Asie notamment, induite par l’enrichissement des populations et des sociétés, afin de mettre en avant les défis actuels en la matière. Enfin, j’analyse l’impact de l’empowerment (dans une conception dite « radicale ») sur la malnutrition infantile au Népal, au côté des politiques promouvant la lutte contre la pauvreté.
